New massive password leak threatens (Gmail, Facebook, LinkedIn) security

October-spam-fest Report from Kaspersky

One of the biggest IT security companies, Kaspersky Lab published their latest spam report for October 2013. The results show that the spam in email traffic has increased by 6.6%. The report provided by Kaspersky Lab is really comprehensive and includes the four main aspects of this subject – Spam in the spotlight, the geographical distribution of spam sources, malicious attachments in email and phishing. People that infect the most computers in corporations are bosses viewing adult content

According to a survey done by ThreatTrack Security 40% of the staff in corporations that deals with malware threats reports that at some point they had to clear a computer that was infected due to a boss that visited sites with adult content. Most of the threats were low level and could easily be avoided, only if the high level personal in the company paid more attention on what they open. Survey tries to understand the reasons for movie piracy

Users of G plus change their profile picture to Eric Shmidts one

China arrested 110 people for spreading online rumors

Obviously in some countries Internet rumors can lead to a state investigation. One of the cases is in China where almost 400 people from the Xinjiang province were investigated and 110 were detained for spreading online rumors.
