As you know the latest versions of Windows (8 and 8.1) come with a new Start Screen, which automatically appears at startup. It turns out that most people don't like it at all and find it irritating. They simply want to power on their PCs and directly boot into their desktops just like they are used to.
There are lots of available ways to skip the Start Screen in Windows 8/8.1. For instance, you are able to do it by adding a Show Desktop shortcut to Windows startup, scheduling an automatic boot into desktop by using Task Scheduler, and so on.
Actually, there is a much more user-friendly method of achieving the same goal. What we would like to offer to you is to use specialized software. In this tutorial we are about to demonstrate to you how to skip the Metro Start Screen in Windows 8/8.1 by using Start Menu X, but you can find some other utilities within SoftPlanet.com such as Classic Shell that can do the same thing.
Click here in order to download and install the latest version of Start Menu X.
Once you have the app on your PC, you will see a message that notifies you that in order to open it you need to press Shift + Win.
3. Open Smart Menu X and you will see an icon that looks like a gear. Click on it in order to access the app options.
4. Navigate to the System integration section and check the Skip the Start screen on start-up option.
5. After that you need to close the window and next time you boot your Windows OS, the first thing you see won't be the Start Screen, but your desktop. Mission accomplished!
